Specsavers Sound Check Ireland Roadshow to visit Dun Laoghaire offering free hearing screening

1st and 2nd May

The Specsavers Sound Check Ireland hearing booth will be visiting Dun Laoghaire shopping centre on 1st and 2nd May providing free hearing screenings.

In addition to the quick complimentary test, visitors will also have the opportunity to speak to a qualified Specsavers hearing aid audiologist about any hearing concerns they may have.

Sound Check Ireland, is a roadshow that is travelling around the country providing free hearing screenings to the public. The hearing booth is staffed by highly trained experts and is equipped with a simple audiology test that takes just a few minutes to complete. A Specsavers hearing aid audiologist will be on hand to read each individual test and explain the readings to every participant.

In a recent national survey1 conducted by Specsavers on the attitudes of Irish people towards hearing loss, almost half of the respondents worryingly stated that they agreed that gradual hearing loss is part and parcel of getting old and not necessarily a condition that can be treated.  Commenting on these results, Specsavers Dun Laoghaire’s hearing director Orla Walsh says: ‘It’s time to remove the stigma associated with hearing loss and to normalise it, much as we’ve already done with glasses, by offering people easy access to top quality, affordable hearing services. We’re very pleased to be offering south Dublin shoppers the opportunity to avail of a free hearing test and to have any questions they may have answered.’

In addition to being experts in eye health, Specsavers also specialises in hearing with on-site hearing centres managed by qualified partners and staff. Specsavers hearing centres provide a free, three-minute hearing screening, with no need to book an appointment and no obligation to buy. The screener lets customers know whether they would benefit from having a full hearing test, which takes about one hour.

Each hearing centre boasts hi-tech facilities and sells quality hearing aids at great value-for-money prices. All Specsavers digital hearing aids are sold as part of a complete hearing package. From the starting price of €750 this includes:

• Two hearing aids for one great price

• Four years’ worth of batteries

• Four year guarantee (representing a two year extension to the manufacturer’s guarantee)

• Telecoil / auto-telephone

• Directional microphones
